Programme Second Dutch Delta Congress
Thursday 3 November 2011 (09.45 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.), Amsterdam RAI Convention Centre, Auditorium
Cabinet members, members of the House of Representatives, provincial executive councillors, chairs of water boards, municipal executive members, mayors, management and technology experts, representatives of the business community and civil society organisations, and staff directly involved in the Delta Programme will all be gathered together. In short: you can meet everyone who has to do with the Delta Programme at the Delta Conference. What else will be happening on the day?
Morning session
In the morning, special, prominent speakers will be addressing the conference. They will be reflecting on the subjects of the Delta Programme and its special approach from a wide variety of different perspectives. Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte and State Secretary Joop Atsma of the Ministry of Infrastructure & the Environment have indicated they intend to be present at the Delta Conference.
Afternoon session
In the afternoon session, attention will be focused on water safety, the freshwater supply, and adaptive delta management. Three discussions will be held on these subjects.
In addition, at the Delta Parade there will be ample time and opportunity to share knowledge and experiences in an interactive and informal manner. All nine sub-programmes will be represented and everyone will be able to see what the Delta Programme stands for and what progress has been made. The sub-programmes are: Safety, New Urban Developments & Restructuring, Fresh Water, IJsselmeer Region, Rhine Estuary-Drechtsteden, South-western Delta, Rivers, Coast, Wadden Region.
Water poet Niels Blomberg and Delta Commissioner Wim Kuijken will close the Delta Conference.
