Pieter Bloemen
Pieter Bloemen joined the Delta Commissioner’s staff on 1 February 2010. Pieter is the staff contact for strategy-related affairs. He focuses mainly on the development of the key principles for designing the strategy of the Delta Programme. He is also the initial contact for matters related to adaptive delta management. Previously, he was a member of the quartermaster’s team of the Delta Programme where he was responsible for the development of the base values and key principles of the Delta Programme. Earlier, Pieter worked for the Directorate-General for Spatial Planning at the former Ministry of Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment.

Jos van Alphen
Jos van Alphen has been a member of the Delta Commissioner’s staff since 1 June 2010. He is the staff contact for knowledge-related affairs and is responsible for the input and quality assurance of subject-specific knowledge and expertise. Among other things, Jos is involved with the Delta set of instruments and scenarios. In addition, he is involved in co-ordinating research programmes and he is the initial staff contact for knowledge institutions. Previously, he worked as a knowledge manager at the secretariat of the Delta Committee. He gained experience with coastal and river management in various positions at the Directorate-General of Public Works & Water Management, such as in the recent introduction of the EU Directive on the assessment and management of flood risks and with the development of new standards for flood protection.

Floris Hammer
Floris Hammer joined the Delta Commissioner’s staff in April 2010. He works on various matters involving strategy and knowledge, such as adaptive delta management. He is the staff contact for information provision via Deltaweb and he advises the Delta Commissioner on involving young people in the Delta Programme through the Delta think tank. Floris studied Physics and Astronomy in Nijmegen. In 2008, he started out as a government trainee at the former Ministry of Transport, Public Works & Water Management, where, among other things, he worked for the Programme Office for the South-western Delta.
