Safety
The Safety sub-programme describes the content and structure of the water safety policy for the 21st century, how the EU Flood Risks Directive is being implemented and how the policy for areas outside the dikes and the programming of the Flood Protection Programme should be substantiated. In addition, the sub-programmes comprise policy-based exploratory studies, pilots and projects that are intended to deliver greater insight into the possibilities of Delta Dikes.
An important “product” of the Safety sub-programme is the development and setting down of new water safety standards. These standards are of great importance to the other sub-programmes. A basic decision will be made in 2011. In 2017, the new standards will be set down in the Water Act.
The Safety sub-programme is the responsibility of the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment.
